E.A. (Ed) Jaenke

E. A. (Ed) Jaenke, in his many capacities in and out of government, has worked diligently and extremely effectively to expand, strengthen and protect farmer and consumer cooperatives. As Governor of the Farm Credit Administration, he was the leader in modernizing the legislative charter of the Cooperative Farm Credit System in the farm Credit Act of 1971 that expanded services to rural America. He played important roles in he passage of the Farm Credit Acts of 1981 and 1985, and was a key figure in the creation of the National Cooperative Bank and in saving it through privatization. He also served as Chair of the Cooperative Development Foundation during a time when it transitioned from an association foundation to one serving all of the nation's cooperatives.
